Winnie the Pooh

It was my friend's son Noah's first birthday and she asked me to make a cake for him. Upon request, this cake has no egg yolks, no dairy and reduced sugar.  Egg whites and soy milk were used as substitutes instead.  Despite the restrictions, the flavours worked out surprisingly well =)  Happy birthday Noah! Hope you liked the cake!

Bon Voyage

This suitcake was a large cake! This baby feeds 35 people and it was vanilla cake with vanilla buttercream.

This bon voyage cake was my final assignment at the Bonnie Gordon School of Cake Decorating. The client is surprising her husband with two tickets for a Mediterranean cruise as his 50th birthday present. Since they are travelling, I decided to make a suitcase for them. I made some travel stickers of countries along the Mediterranean as well as a cruise ship to put on top of the cake. I also made a luggage tag that says 'Bon Voyage' to attach onto the suitcase as it was the client's request to incorporate those words in some way. I filled the cake board with blue icing to simulate waves of the sea.

Purse cake

This is my first go at a purse cake and I used a Roots bag as my inspiration.

This was a vanilla cake with hazelnut buttercream filling. To achieve the worn leathery look of the purse, I used a chocolate fondant as a base and dusted it with brown petal dust to make it look aged.

Mother's Day cake

One of the first cakes I've made was one for Mother's Day. It was a coconut cake with vanilla buttercream. My mom likes purple so I went with that colour scheme and added in blue, white and pink for a bit of contrast.

I kept the design simple - made some coloured pearls to line between the two tiers. I made them different sizes to give it more dimension. I decided on a blue and white bow for the top of the cake and sprinkled some flowers throughout to finish off the look.
